PILOT CAR SERVICES IN ILLINOIS
Nationwide Transport Services is the dominant provider of pilot car services in Illinois. We have served the midwestern states' mighty agricultural industry for years, safely escorting oversized agricultural and industrial equipment. Our drivers are all rounded, having also mastered the many urban and suburban routes, which are a challenge to oversized loads. Whether your load is going through the dense metros of Chicago, Rockford, and Prior or the farmlands in the south, we guarantee reliable deliveries. Pilot cars lead or follow an oversized load to help ensure its swift and safe passage across its entire route. Our specialists scout the route in advance to ensure the shortest route and minimal time in traffic. We plan the transport to avoid rush hour traffic and, where possible, narrow roads that necessitate road closures.
Illinois regulations necessitate a permit for oversized loads. Permits lay out the specifications for each transport and the general requirements. Operators must conduct route surveys and work with the local transport agencies. In areas where road closures are needed, we ensure they have little effect on the general public.

Escort vehicles must maintain a distance of at least 300 feet when leading the load on two-lane highways and a similar distance to the rear on multilane highways in rural areas.
